Ontario Electricity Support Program


Description

Monthly credit reduction to the electricity bill of eligible households

  • credit amount is determined by the number of household members and the combined household after-tax income
  • households with Indigenous members, electric heating, or electricity intensive medical devices may receive a higher credit
  • two years of support is available to most applicants
Eligibility
  • low-income customers of electricity distributors within Ontario
  • persons 65 years of older, or recipients of a CPP disability pension, may be eligible for up to 5 years of support
  • recipients of the low-income energy assistance program - emergency financial assistance (LEAP EFA) may also be eligible
  • Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program recipients are already eligible
Application Process
Apply online - current OESP recipients must reapply for the higher credit
Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program recipients must apply through their caseworker
