Services for Ukrainians Arriving in Ontario

- The following information is to assist Ukrainians settling in Ontario as a result of the recent conflict in Ukraine
Employment- Ontario government has dedicated employment phoneline, 1-888-562-4769, and email, ukrainianjobs@ontario.ca, for Ukrainians who have arrived in Canada as a result of the new emergency travel authorization.
- many Ukrainian newcomers eligible for Better Jobs Ontario (BJO) program (previously referred to as the Second Career program)
- Ukrainian newcomers and those who wish to employ them, visit job bank
- WES Gateway Program assesses credentials of people displaced because of adverse circumstances in their country
Ukrainians arriving in Canada can now apply to receive transitional financial assistance from the federal government for basic needs.- benefit consists of a direct, one-time payment of $3000 per adult, and $1500 per child 17 years and younger
- Ukrainians and their family members in Canada with a work permit, study permit, temporary resident permit or visitor record under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET) are eligible
- applications for benefit must be submitted through Government of Canada's online portal
- Ukrainians in Ontario under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) eligible for Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) coverage
- there is no waiting period; people can apply immediately on coming to Ontario

- Refugee HealthLine, 1-866-286-4770, this line, part of Health Connect Ontario, connects refugees and people arriving through humanitarian authorizations such as CUAET to health care providers. Health providers wanting to volunteer may also call this line
- elementary and secondary students from Ukraine can study for free in Ontario
- support for post-secondary students admitted to Canada on an emergency basis for humanitarian reasons studying at Ontario's public colleges and universities through Ontario-Ukraine Solidarity Scholarship.
- Newcomers to Canada including those who came to Canada via CUAET who are living in Brampton or Mississauga can apply for a discounted transit pass through the Affordable Transit Program
Immigrant and Refugee Support and Information- immigrant and refugee support in Ukrainian at Greater Toronto Area-based service Canadian Ukrainian Immigrant Aid Society (CUIAS) and at Jewish Immigrant Aid Services (JIAS) for those who identify as Jewish

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has a helpline for Ukraine inquiries, available in Canada and abroad, 613-321-4243 - collect calls accepted. Inquirers can add keyword Ukraine2022 to IRCC Web form with questions and the email will be prioritized.
- Ukrainians currently living temporarily in Canada can lengthen their stay for up to three years with the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET)
- Immigration and Refugee Board is prioritizing refugee applications from Ukrainian nationals
- IRCC is prioritizing family sponsorships of Ukrainians who are conjugal or common law partners/spouses or dependent children (including adopted children) of Canadian citizens
