NextGen Builders Mentoring Program


Description
Mentorship program in construction trades
  • professional development seminars for mentors and mentees in first 2 months
  • weekly calls and monthly face to face meetings between mentors and mentees
  • quarterly networking and professional development opportunities
  • a Mentoring Coach and Mentoring APP to maximize support and connectivity
Newcomer Pathways into Construction
  • immigrants and refugees learn about and access job opportunities in aspects of construction -- professional, administrative and technical, or trades
  • help to develop a 6 month career plan for each individual
Eligibility
Mentees
  • Black, Indigenous and newcomer communities, with priority to women, youth and young adults 16 years and older
  • who are in the process of preparing for work or who have been recently employed as apprentices or professionals in the construction industry


Mentors
  • Individuals currently working in the construction sector
  • who have completed a construction apprenticeship or who are an experienced professionals in the industry
  • willing to commit for at least 1 year
  • understand the challenges underrepresented groups face and want to see them succeed in the construction industry


Newcomer Pathways into Construction
  • for permanent residents, refugee claimants, or convectional refugees with 1 year work permit or recent Canadian citizen and meet language requirements
